circa: 19th. century
A 19th Century French Railway Sign made of cast iron painted blue and white with the number 113. These signs were placed on top of posts to indicate the railway line number. The octagonal base has a small lip at the bottom and larger molded edge at its top. On that pedestal is perched a large rectangular face with raised numbering, 113. The rich blue paint still retains some of its glossy finish in places, the aged white numbers stand out against it. Lots of chipped corners show the years of paint the sign received throughout its life. It's double sided, so attractive from multiple angles.
Condition: Good condition. Heavily weathered paint and some rust, appropriate to age and use.
