French Terracotta Water Jar, 19th Century
circa: 19th Century
French 19th Century Terracotta Water Jar "Cruche" from the Burgundy Region. The sizable ceramic jar has three generous handles, at either side and the back, for ease of use. A round spout extends from the front, just above the pot's widest part. All handles and the spout are joined to the body with the maker's handmade indentations. These marks are echoed in decorative vertical strips of clay that bear the same impressions, five strips in total. A beautiful patina graces the surface, with a rusty brick red hue and spots of darker tones.
Condition: Good antique condition. Age appropriate wear.
