If you're anything like us, you spend HOURS looking at design magazines! Well maybe not that much time, but we do draw inspiration from some of our favorite designers and it often influences how we shop for our collection in the south of France. Sometimes, Cathy and Pierre will even select items at international antiques fair in France that fit perfectly together in a room. Here are a few of our recent favorites in a "Get the Look" layout paired with some pieces from our very own collection!
Why does your storage need to be boring? We love the stylish and cozy look of this ornate storage trunk, especially with the fun statement of the minimalist art piece above it.
Need to have a seat while you peruse your design magazines? Park yourself in a comfy and rich Louis XVI armchair. Called "cabriolet" and one of a pair, the cherry wood chair has recently been reupholstered in a neutral palette and the ornate carvings are a work of art!
This kitchen makes excellent use of a marble topped pastry table for the island, creating usable workspace while at the same time keeping an open feel. If you’re a fan of this look, you’re in luck!
Négrel Antiques just brought in a similar piece with a broad, bright marble top, and elegant scrolling legs.
We offer a wonderful large French terracotta tian with a creamy ocher glaze, similar to the one pictured. You can complete the sophisticated industrial motif with one of our antique French scales and an assortment of gorgeous copper utensils (two or three maybe?). Happy cooking!
Why not stand out when entertaining? You can forgo the typical right-angled brass bar cart and spring for an attractive round form. This vignette features a swanky 70s era round bar cart serving up a cocktail to guests on a fun mid-century sofa with eye-popping upholstery.
You can capture this scene with the vintage Italian chrome bar cart. The tubular chrome frame and smoked glass shelves are real standouts, and will hold an assortment of your preferred accoutrements. For a pop of color may we suggest the fantastic Napoleon III style sofa in this year’s hot color, greenery?
Hopefully that gets your gears turning on how you can make some fabulous French antiques a part of your life. Thanks!
