circa: 19th Century
A magnificent French country walnut coffee table made from a petrin, or dough bin, from the 19th century. The walnut surface has an incredible patina, with copius shallow cut marks from its years as a work table giving it a beautiful feel and look. Rustic construction with wooden pegs and large, handsome joints. The original dough bin was resized and had the half moon cut-out for shelf space. Under the table top the shape cuts in and then flares back out at the square legs. The surface of the shelf below has a more rough texture and darker finish. It is a great size and is functional as well as attractive.
Condition: Superficial cutmarks on the surface. A long crack along one end cap.
