circa: Early 1900s
A dapper cherrywood Louis XVI style desk, circa 1900. Wonderful cherrywood veneer on top forms a tight series of concentric diamonds. Bowed sides give the piece a unique outline. The apron is fluted on the sides and has relief carved foliate decoration on the die joins. A single wide drawer spans the front apron, with molded detailing and a fantastic resin drop drawer pull. Drawer space is 27" wide, 19" long, 3" deep. The back apron is molded to match the front. Turned and fluted baluster legs at each corner are connected by an elegantly carved and molded X stretcher with an impressive turned finial. Molded edges and spindle feet. All the details make for a truly outstanding piece. Floor to apron measures 25", 27.75" between legs.
Condition: Light scratches on the top. Very slim separation at the right joint. Drop pull on drawer is not original.
