circa: Early 1900s
A great French country marble top oak boarding school cabinet from the 1920s. Dark gray variegated marble with small specks and large swathes of milky quartz. Simple, rustic oak construction with a wonderful patina. Being a boarding school cabinet it sat between two beds, so the two doors open from the sides and swing in. Either side of the cabinet is 13" wide, 11" tall and 11" deep. Each side has its own drawer, having available space measuring 9.5" wide, 9.25" long and 2" deep. Turned wooden knobs and ever so slightly tapered legs finish out the piece.
Condition: Good condition. The marble is rough at the corners and is attached with a single large screw at either side. Three small circular fills approximately .25", not easily seen. Some superficial scratches along the top. Some wood shrinkage on the inside. One knob is replaced but matches well, one knob has slight damage but is secure.
