A phenomenal walnut Louis Philippe period chest of drawers, from the mid 1800s. Prepossessing light walnut grain and tone, as well as elegant, simplified lines typical to the period carry the piece. A doucine shape brings a little flare to the top the chest. Four drawers, each with the original ornate brass key and escutcheon. Squat, lightly molded bun feet in front and square feet in back. Flat side pieces with wonderful grain patterns, pine panels and supports at the back. The warm, golden antique patina shows its age wonderfully. Interior measurements on the top drawer are 28.5" wide, 13.75" long, 4" deep; the center drawers are 28.5" wide, 13.75" long, 6.75" deep; the bottom is 28.5" wide, 13.75" long, 8.75" deep.
Condition: A large, filled age crack along the top and a few filled burl knots, age cracks on the side panels. Some light marks throughout, all typical for the age of the piece.
