circa: Early 1900s
A large French antique traveling trunk with poplar construction and oil cloth covering, early 1900s. Brown oil cloth with snakeskin texture and print creates lots of visual interest. Four beautifully worn poplar bands wrap around the piece, held in place by brass rivets. Trim and hardware throughout is comprised of nicely patinated copper and brass. Broad leather strap handles on either side, just above the stenciled letters "C.B". The interior is fully lined in lovely antique small print gray fabric. The original drawer is still present with its handles and straps intact. Would make a great coffee or occasional table.
Condition: Good antique condition. Some scratches and one round tear on the oil cloth covering, as well as some wear around the outer corners. A little wear and aging on the poplar braces, and also on the metal hardware. Original fabric lining has age spots. The closure is slightly off, it does latch, but not smoothly.
