A beguiling little Louis XV style beside table in cherry wood and rosewood veneers with elaborate fruitwood marquetry. The face bows out slightly and holds three drawers, each with petite brass pulls. Various fruitwoods make up the dainty floral marquetry on the drawer fronts, enclosed in an elegantly shaped outline. The table top boasts a large floral bouquet of fruitwoods, tied with a bow. This is artfully set among four square rosewood veneer pieces that darken towards the center, further emphasizing the largest flower in bright lemon wood. The vignette is enclosed in another shapely, thin outline. This is further surrounded by straight grained veneer placed in the opposing direction as the squared inner rosewood, creating a very dynamic image. The sides repeat this effect in chevron shape, the inner pieces highlighted within a thin lemon wood outline. Raised scalloped edging creates a gallery along the back and sides of the table top. The legs are shapely and attenuated, adding to the delicate nature of the piece.
Condition: Great antique condition. Natural discoloration of wood. Old worm holes on the sides of drawers that were professionally treated. No loss of veneer, very slight cracks or separation in some spots.
