circa: Early 1900s
A delightful Louis XVI Style walnut chest of drawers with burl fronts and marble top, early 1900s. Three drawers, each featuring expressive walnut burl fronts, are graced with pairs of brass geometric drop handles and detailed urn keyhole escutcheons, as well as understated brass trim around the inset edges. Angled and fluted front corners connect to tapered square feet. The apron has simplified scalloped detail at the center and the corners, small scallops are located at the corners of the paneled sides, as well. Projected corners on the marble top accentuate the angled front corners of the chest. The marble is a medium gray with sparse, thin white veining and compact areas of darker gray and white. The drawer interiors are 25" wide, 13" long and 4.5" deep, with the top drawer having a divider just off center.
Condition: Some small chips at the edges of the marble and a few light superficial scratches on its surface. A few light nicks on the brass trim on drawer fronts. One side panel has a tight crack, the other has a partial crack.
