circa: Mid 1800s
A handsome Louis Philippe country style walnut buffet, or sideboard, from the mid 1800s. Rich, warm toned walnut with inset panel sides and two front panel doors, each with carved molding detail. A single drawer extends along the top, with two brass knobs and molding that gives it the look of two drawers side by side. The available drawer space is 29" wide, 13.5" long and 2.75" deep. A single non-adjustable shelf is built into the interior of the buffet. The shelf is set 18.5" from the bottom, the interior width is 32.5" and depth is 13.5", there is 12" clearance from the shelf to the top. A shield shaped brass key plate echoes the brass knobs on the drawer.
Condition: The lock is not original. One visible repair on the top as well as a partial water ring. Some age cracks on the sides and back, one side due to two nice knots.
