circa: Late 1800s
A fetching French Napoleon III painted walnut buffet, circa 1870. Originally made for use in an office or factory, this piece will make a wonderful buffet or console. Two top drawers and ample open storage underneath make it both handsome and practical. A large foliage medallion decorates the front of each paneled door. All knobs are turned wood. Paneled sides and molded edges at the top and plinth bottom. Layers of old, heavily distressed paint in cream topped with blue soften the overall look. Interior space for the drawers is 20" wide, 17" long and 4.25" deep. Cabinet space is 18.5" deep, 44" wide between doors, 12.5" from top to nonadjustable shelf, 12" between shelf and bottom.
Condition: Great antique condition, no cracks. Heavily distressed paint throughout. Some interior water marks and stains. The locking mechanism on the door is not original, the drawers no longer lock.
