circa: Early 1900s
A splendid two-drawer chest called "Commode Sauteuse" made of carved oak in the Louis XV Provençal style. The chest has an unusual depth of 23" and features two ample drawers. Detailed carvings embellish the piece, including shells and scrolls on the drawer fronts, floral and scallop carvings on the apron, and scallops on the sides. Shaped brass handles and escutcheons on the drawers. The sides are paneled and the entire piece rests on elegantly curved cabriole legs finished with doe's feet.
Condition: Very good. An age crack alongside top. Working keys are included.
